Strategic, operational, management and evaluation experience spanning 40 years. Recent consulting assignments have included project completion, strategy evaluations and green growth plans for the AfDB, a climate-smart agricultural plan for Morocco for the World Bank, reviews of Forest Investment Plans under the Climate Investment Funds and a contribution to the 2018 FAO State of the World’s Forests with focus on their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. They have also included portfolio reviews and strategy development for the South Asia region, and for Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Belarus for the World Bank, and quality at entry reviews for IFAD. Operational and management experience in green growth, environment and climate change, land, water, forests, landscape, fisheries, biodiversity and disaster risk management, and in agriculture, in over 60 countries. Worked for 30 years as a staff member with the World Bank, one with OECD, four with engineering consultancy firms and 15 months with an NGO. 10 years experience as a manager, responsible for up to 65 staff, their work programs and related strategic agendas.
Solid understanding of the way that multi-lateral institutions and government agencies work at all levels. Experience ranges from upper-middle-income countries to fragile states and lower-income countries. Experience in the challenges and practicalities of connecting global agendas with country realities and priorities. Regional areas of focus include Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
