Jillian Hess is the Communications Director at Partnership for Transparency. She has communications and program management expertise, as well as experience in event planning and business development.
Prior to joining PTF in September 2022, Jillian was the Public Relations and Outreach Manager at Union Station Redevelopment Corporation in Washington, DC. Previously, she undertook gender equality and human rights work at Cuso International Guyana in Georgetown, Guyana and the Ghana Education Service in Bongo District, Ghana. Jillian also worked at the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative and the Asian Development Bank North American Representative Office in Washington, DC and Political Intelligence, Ltd. In Brussels, Belgium. In addition, she taught English in Japan, initially through the JET Programme.
Jillian holds an LL.M, International Law with International Relations (with Merit) from the University of Kent Law School, Brussels School of International Studies and a B.A. Honours, German and Politics from Brock University in St. Catharines, Canada. During her undergraduate studies, Jillian’s third year was spent at Albert-Ludwigs Universität in Freiburg, Germany. She speaks French, German, and Japanese.
Originally from Elrose, Saskatchewan, Canada, Jillian has lived in the Washington, DC area for over ten years.
