September 24, 2025: On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, PTF moderated a discussion at the 58th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting in Milan, Italy. The session, entitled “Engaging Stakeholders Meaningfully on Sustainable Development Projects: Lessons from Community Participatory Approaches” was moderated Dr. Vinay Bhargava, PTF’s Chief Technical Advisor.
The event aimed to share good practices on how community participation and monitoring can enhance the effectiveness of activities, finances, and climate change adaptation outcomes in ADB-supported programs.
As part of the event, Vinay Bhargava, Ani Paltajyan, Samira Shakya, Vinya Ariyaratne, and Stefano Rimini drafted a paper highlighting the central role of communities as stakeholders in climate change adaptation and mitigation programs financed by Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), notably with the ADB. It notably focuses on three case studies showing how communities bring essential knowledge, leadership, and accountability to climate responses.
This paper has now been published and can be found here.
