PTF Hosts Seminar on “CSO Engagement in World Bank Operations”

August 11, 2025: On July 9, 2025, PTF hosted a webinar titled “CSO Engagement in World Bank Operations”, drawing participation from 70 participants from civil society organizations across Africa. Featuring Asli Gurkan (Senior Social Development Specialist, World Bank) and Vinay Bhargava (Chief Technical Advisor, PTF), the session explored how CSOs can more effectively engage with World Bank-financed projects through the use of Stakeholder Engagement Plans (SEPs).

The event spotlighted the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework, particularly its Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) requirements, as a significant opportunity for civil society to engage more systematically in Bank-financed projects. Both speakers presented practical guidance and examples of how CSOs can contribute during the project preparation and implementation phases to ensure better outcomes for communities.

You can watch the recording below and download the presentation slides here to explore how SEPs can be a transformative tool for citizen engagement and oversight. CSOs interested in learning more and leveraging these frameworks further can contact PTF at info@ptfund.org.
