Our portfolio in the Central and Eastern Europe region has included over 45 projects – nearly a quarter of all PTF supported projects – carried out between 2000 and 2013. Projects have monitored the use of oil revenues in Azerbaijan, monitored corruption cases in the judicial processes of the Western Balkans, built media capacity for monitoring local budget processes, advocated for transparency in public procurement in Serbia, monitored the energy regulator in Romania, advocated for transparency in universities in Kazakhstan, and supported publication of new legislation in Albania.
Today, our Metzger Rule of Law Initiative is working to establish a functioning, useful and sustainable Regional Network in the Western Balkans to achieve visible, measurable, and meaningful judicial reform in Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
We are supported in Eastern Europe by our affiliate in Munich – Partnership for Transparency Fund eingetragener Verein (PTF e.V.). PTF e.V. is a legally independent entity but closely integrated arms of PTF, enabling us to better understand local cultures, issues and other organizations working on similar issues.
