Villagers from Gajapati, India display their “work cards” procured as part of a PTF funded project using India’s Right to Information (RTI) law

PTF has enrolled the efforts of 12 volunteer advisers to shepherd projects from initial concepts to impactful results oriented programs. Countries encompassed in the South Asia “portfolio” are: India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bangladesh

PTF has entered into a partnership with the Public Affairs Center (PAC) in Bangalore, India. PAC’s role is to advise and facilite, adding value and instilling quality control measures for PTF funded projects. PAC is responsible for disseminating information about the availability of PTF grants to accredited organizations as well as identifying and screening eligible CSOs. PTF and PAC then jointly undertake the triage of applicants for funding under the PTF Program.

To date, programs have been very successful at the grassroots, establishing and training community groups, engaging with community workers/facilitators and staff of local CSOs to hone skills, raising awareness about Right to Information (RTI) laws and assisting citizens to file applications to resolve disputes, developing advocacy tools and media materials for the use in public hearings awareness campaigns, and establishing a “Constructive Engagement Forum” to deal with issues arising from public service delivery.
